Yesterday, Square-Enix released some new information about Final Fantasy VII, which was again squeezed exactly like its popularity on PlayStation 1. Starting from the addition of the DLC episode of Yuffie in Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrated which unfortunately is only available on PlayStation 5, a battle royale game for mobile, to the remake of all the series that were popular on the PlayStation, first, second, and portable on mobile.
Along with the announcement, Square-Enix apparently also provided new information about Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2.
Through an interview with the Japanese website Famitsu, Tetsuya Nomura, Director of Final Fantasy VII Remake announced that Part 2 of the game will be handled by Naoki Hamaguchi, the game's co-director. Nomura admits that he will still help Hamaguchi as Creative Director.
Previously, Naoki Hamaguchi was the Project Leader Mobius Final Fantasy, the main programmer in Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, and worked on other Final Fantasy franchises such as XII, XIII, XIII-2, and XIV. Hamaguchi is also not a person who appears to the public too often unlike Nomura or the franchise's core team.
Hamaguchi's involvement in Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2 will certainly be his first debut as Game Director. Despite the fact that Tetsuya Nomura was still overseeing all the creative processes they were about to decide.
It's not clear when Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2 will be released. But it seems that Square-Enik is indirectly forcing its players to upgrade the game to the PS5 which will be released on June 10, 2021.
